Bishop Malcolm Mitchell

District Bishop Malcolm Mitchell is the Pastor of Mission Church of our Lord Jesus Christ. He grew up as a member of the Mission Church of Christ in Somerville and called to the preaching ministry at age 18 under the discipleship of Regional Apostle Henry A.  Moultrie, II.

He served faithfully as an Elder, Youth Department Director, Brotherhood Coordinator and Brotherhood Choir Director in Mission Church until 2007 when he was asked to start a bible study by a group of his struggling high school students in Boston.

The ministry expanded when curious parents and family members attended the gathering that gradually grew into Fellowship Mission Church. After 13 years pastoring Fellowship Mission Church in Roxbury, Apostle Moultrie announced that Bishop Mitchell would succeed him as pastor of Mission Church of Christ, Somerville; a role he officially stepped into on January 1, 2020.

Pastor Mitchell has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Boston University. He holds a Master’s Degree in Education and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Administration. He is a Humanities teacher in the Boston Public School System. He founded the JQUS Wrestling Team and was inducted into the Massachusetts Wrestling Hall of Fame for 25 years of distinguished coaching.

Bishop Mitchell is happily married to his childhood sweetheart and wife of 18 years, First Lady Carla Mitchell. They have 3 wonderful children, Malcolm Jr. Matthew and Mia.
